A2 Ghee

Kamdhenu Gauveda A2 ghee is made the traditional bilona way. Milk from free-grazing desi cows is set into curd, hand-churned into makkhan, and slowly heated over a low flame until it turns golden, with the grainy texture and rich aroma of home-made ghee. There are no shortcuts from cream or butter, and nothing is added.

Choose from four ghees: A2 Gir Cow Ghee from pure Gir cows, A2 Gaushala Gir Cow Ghee from cows raised at a gaushala, A2 Desi Kissan Cow Ghee from the milk of desi cows, and Desi A2 Buffalo Ghee for those who prefer its fuller, creamier taste. Each comes in a 1kg jar and is delivered across India, with Cash on Delivery available. Use it for tadka, rotis, sweets and everyday cooking, or a spoonful the way Ayurveda has traditionally recommended.

Frequently asked questions

What is A2 ghee?

Ghee made from the milk of Indian desi cows such as Gir, which naturally carries the A2 type of beta-casein protein. Most crossbred and foreign-breed milk carries A1.

What is the bilona method?

Milk is first set into curd, then churned to separate makkhan, which is slowly heated into ghee. It takes far more milk than making ghee from cream, which is why bilona ghee costs more.

Which Kamdhenu ghee should I choose?

Gir Cow Ghee for the classic A2 desi cow ghee; Gaushala Gir for ghee from gaushala-raised Gir cows; Kissan Cow Ghee for farm desi cow ghee; Buffalo Ghee for a richer, whiter ghee.

How should I store ghee?

In a clean, dry, airtight jar away from sunlight; it keeps for months without the fridge. Always use a dry spoon.
